Movie Reviews
Earlier this month, we went on a very exciting field trip to the movies!!! Some of the students in our class went to see The Lorax, and some of our older students went to see The Hunger Games.
Afterwards, students were very excited to share their opinions of the films, and to learn about movie reviews.
After reading some on-line movie reviews written by twelve year old movie critic Jackson Murphy, on www.rottentomatoes.com and in entertainment magazines like Entertainment Weekly, the students decided to write their own.
The results were very professional and included comments like: “I didn’t like how the movie just focused on the Once-ler telling about how he saw the Lorax.
I also thought that Ted should have seen the Lorax.” (Grade 2), and “As a lover of The Hunger Games books, I was disappointed by how Katniss obtained the mockingjay pin [in the movie]” (Grade 8).
When averaging out the results for all reviews, it was a tie. Both The Lorax and The Hunger Games got 4.5 stars from our students.
