WHAT IS A FAMILY ROOM?

Our Family Rooms are welcoming environments for families to retreat, rest and heal better together within the hospital, while being just steps away from their seriously ill child. Every element of the rooms have been carefully designed to foster improved mental and physical health during a stressful time. Each of our Family Rooms is somewhat unique, depending on the needs of the partnering hospital. They are an extension of Ronald McDonald House Charities Toronto and somewhere where families can:

  • Rest, relax and recharge
  • Take a nap
  • Have a cup of coffee or tea
  • Eat a meal together as a family
  • Take a shower
  • Watch TV
  • Quietly read
  • Chat to volunteers


Our Family Rooms are built on a partnership between the local hosting hospital, Ronald McDonald House Charities Toronto and Ronald McDonald House Charities Canada.

A soothing, medical-free space where families can wait or stay while their child receives life-saving medical treatment.
