RMHC Toronto Achieves Accreditation from Imagine Canada's Standards Program
Toronto (May 27, 2014) – Ronald McDonald House Charities Toronto announces that it has been accredited under Imagine Canada’s national Standards Program. With this achievement, we join a growing community of more than 100 organizations dedicated to operational excellence.
The Standards Program is a Canada-wide set of shared standards for charities and non-profits designed to strengthen practices in five fundamental areas: board governance; financial accountability and transparency; fundraising; staff management; and volunteer involvement.
“Today, charities are challenged to operate in a very complex environment. In order for us to deliver on our important mission every day, it takes more than good intentions; it takes good governance and management. This accreditation assures families who need our support that we operate to the highest standards, and tangibly demonstrates to our donors, partners, and community champions that we are committed to excellence in all we do. We are proud of our more than 30 year history of providing families a place to heal better together”, says Jane Marco, CEO, Ronald McDonald House Charities Toronto.
Builds public confidence
Among the Standards Program’s goals are to increase an organization’s transparency and capacity, and to strengthen public confidence in individual organizations and the charitable sector as a whole.
Transparent, peer-review process
Our policies and procedures in the five areas of compliance were evaluated by a group of volunteers from the sector, and were found to be compliant with the Standards Program.
“This is a significant milestone for our organization, we have had a focus on strengthening our governance and accountability practices and achieving the accreditation is a testament to the work that has been accomplished”, says Keith Graham, Chairman, Ronald McDonald House Charities Toronto.
