School has begun
While many students lament the end of summer or fret over which new outfit they’ll wear on the first day of school, school-aged children at the House eagerly anticipated the start of classes on Wednesday, Sept. 2 at the RMHC Toronto School.
School here brings them a much-needed sense of normalcy during a time when they or their siblings are dealing with serious health challenges.
Recognized by the Ministry of Education, RMHC School is staffed by two certified teachers and is open to students from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 12 who are living at the House.
The School follows the Ontario Curriculum and enables patients and siblings staying at the House to grow academically and intellectually, just like they would if they were at home.
This year we’re expecting our busiest year ever at the House. This means we’re expecting more students than ever will need the School.
The first day of class started with seven eager students: two in Junior Kindergarten and one in Senior Kindergarten, Grade 3, Grade 4, Grade 6 and Grade 9. They’ll be sure to keep their teachers busy.
Last year, a total of 52 students attended the school between September and June.
