Wednesday, May 8 marked the 20th McHappy Day, McDonald’s Canada’s national fundraising event. As part of this one-day fundraising initiative, more than 1,400 McDonald’s restaurants across the country raised money to support local children’s charities such as Ronald McDonald House.
In Alliston and Angus, $1 from the sale of every Big Mac sandwich, Happy Meal, and hot McCafé beverage sold benefited Toronto Ronald McDonald House, Stevenson Memorial Hospital’s capital campaign, Matthews House Hospice and the Base Borden Family Resource Centre.
I am thrilled to report that with your support our restaurants raised $22,300. Angus had the 11th highest amount raised of all McDonald’s in Ontario with $9,448 raised, Alliston had the 12th highest in Ontario with $8,608 raised and Walmart had the highest amount raised of any Walmart McDonald’s in Canada for the second year in a row with $4,305 raised. Across Canada over $4 million was raised and in conjunction with the 10 cents from every Happy Meal and coin boxes over $8 million will be contributed to Ronald McDonald House Charities this year.
In the next few weeks we will be presenting cheques to Toronto Ronald House $11,200, Stevenson Memorial Hospital $3,700, Base Borden Family Resource Centre $3,700, and to Matthews House Hospice for $3,700.
Thank you to all of our wonderful customers for being so generous in your support of so many children and families that will benefit from your generosity.
