Toronto's Ronald McDonald House is a 'home away from home' for out-of-town families whose children are receiving treatment for serious illness at Toronto hospitals (generally the Hospital for Sick Children, but others as well). Our goal is to provide an atmosphere for families and their children where the familiar routines of home life can continue as much as possible.

2004 Year of Hope Provides Hope to our Families

2004 Year of Hope logo When families arrive on our doorstep they are frightened, lonely, and scared for their sick child. At Toronto’s Ronald McDonald House, we strive to give families the hope and support they need on a day-to-day basis throughout the year. Serious illness does not take a vacation and through the year our Year of Hope Program we provide support programs and activities, such as holiday parties, summer day camp, support groups, massage therapy, pet visitation, music, and expressive arts among others.

On May 12th, 2004, more than 450 corporate and community guests gathered at the Fairmont Royal York to celebrate the work of Toronto’s Ronald McDonald House and to honour our 2004 Year of Hope Partners. The 2004 Celebration was truly a night to be remembered! The evening’s festivities included entertainment by the Nylons and magician David Merry. In addition to the entertainment, there was a raffle draw for a Tiffany & Co. "Victoria" diamond and platinum pendant, student centerpieces of houses representing each of the four seasons of hope, and a silent auction of unique items.

Again this year, the Year of Hope Program was extremely successful and netted over $425,000 for Toronto’s Ronald McDonald House. Expenses were kept to a minimum through the generosity of our many donors, allowing over 80% of the gross income to go directly to support programs and services at the House.

Thank you to our Year of Hope Partners, table purchasers, donors, suppliers, committee members, volunteers and friends for your support. We couldn’t have done it without you!
